Diseño Industrial

In my studies of Industrial Design Engineering and Product Development, I developed different product design projects. Some of them are explained below: a female public WC with a different approach, and versatile studio furniture for transit areas such as corridors.

Female public WC

Project resulting from the work of the subject "Design Workshop III", under the premise of designing a female public urinal for a large city, taking into account the social, intimacy and space difficulties that these spaces entail.

It consists of an open space with a concentric design centred on a support bar, which is integrated into a column.

This public toilet is designed to be installed in party areas, as a complement to the existing cabins. The space has been designed so that it can be used by 2 users at the same time.

Due to its open space design, good ventilation is ensured. Combined with a cleaning system that focuses on the impact areas, good hygienic conditions are achieved.

The floor slopes slightly inwards to facilitate the collection of waste water in the central chamber, which also has a slight slope to carry the water to the drain.

The outer screen is made of opaque laminated glass, both to ensure that it will not break and to prevent the inside of the WC from being seen. It is supported by metal supports, leaving space underneath for ventilation.

Like the floor, the roof is also sloped so that rainwater runs down the inside of the support bar and from there into the drain.

The vertical column has the function of maintaining privacy in the interior, as well as providing washbasin and hand-washing facilities, toilet paper, wastepaper basket and cistern. Some pictograms were created to indicate each of the elements.

The water outlets of the tank are located directly at the foot of each of the supports. It is dispersed at an angle of 45°, so the entire impact area is cleaned after each flush.

Study furniture

This project is the result of a project from the subject "Design Workshop II", which was based on the premise of reorganising spaces in the school in order to make use of them.

Simple forms

Using cubic and prismatic shapes, the three components of the project were designed: table, bench and chair.

The chair and table have two useful surfaces. The small cube can be placed inside the large one when not in use, so that they take up less space.

The bench is versatile in that it can be used for sitting when placed horizontally, but can also be used as a small table when placed vertically.

The three elements are composed of two structures with different patterns. They serve both as a support and as a junction for the two boards that form the usable surfaces of the furniture.

On a technical level, the leg frames protrude a few millimetres above the furniture boards. This prevents the surfaces from coming into direct contact with the floor and being easily damaged. It also prevents pens, pencils or paper from falling over the edges.
